In this lecture on Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension (IIH), Sofia Cienfuegos, Ph.D., a professor of nutrition at the University of Illinois at Chicago, discusses the impact of weight bias and stigma in the medical setting.

Dr. Cienfuegos, a professor of nutrition at the University of Illinois at Chicago, is an expert in the field of obesity research. Her Ph.D. in human nutrition and seven years of research on obesity management have resulted in more than 30 publications in prestigious journals. She has presented her work at national and international scientific conferences, trained professionals worldwide, and actively contributed to two R01 projects investigating the health benefits of fasting. In addition, Dr. Cienfuegos has practical expertise in designing and managing clinical trials funded by R01 grants and leading large research teams in recruitment, counseling, and data analysis. Her extensive experience in counseling and researching obesity has provided her with valuable insights into the complexities of obesity and weight stigma.
