Dandy Criteria

Criteria used for diagnosing patients with IIH.

The criteria were established in the 1930’s by neurosurgeon Dr. Walter Dandy. He was able to distinguish certain traits specific to IIH. In 1985, this criterion was modified to four fundamental features required to establish the diagnosis of IIH: symptoms consistent with increased intracranial pressure, normal neurological exam, elevated opening pressure on lumbar puncture, and normal imaging of the brain.
