Optic Nerve Sheath Fenestration

A surgical procedure performed by a neuro-ophthalmologist where an incision is made to the optic nerve sheath to allow cerebrospinal fluid to pass around the optic nerve freely. It is performed to decompress the optic nerve from the elevated pressures caused by IIH to the optic nerve to prevent permanent blindness.
